Sinds we zelf in 2008 met een paar bestuursleden langere tijd in Malawi verbleven, herhalen we onze bestuursreizen jaarlijks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nog een paar dagen en dan stappen we met drie bestuursleden van onze stichting \u2013 Joke Penning, Renske Bootz en Rob Penning \u2013 weer in het vliegtuig naar Malawi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We bezochten in 2008 nog basisscholen, waar leerlingen buiten op de zandgrond les kregen (bij gebrek aan overdekte lokalen). &nbsp;in de loop der jaren gingen we met de leerlingen mee vanuit de basisschool naar het voortgezet onderwijs. We volgden hun loopbaan en hielpen de talentvolle leerlingen aan studiebeurzen voor vervolgopleidingen in het hbo of op de universiteit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">En nu, in 2024 is een aantal van de in 2008 nog basisschoolleerlingen afgestudeerd aan prestigieuze universiteiten. Ze zijn inmiddels zover dat ze met hun afgeronde opleiding binnen hun vakgebied werken in hun geboorteregio. Een nog veel grotere groep zal in het komend jaar hun studie afronden en zich dan ook gaan inzetten voor de eigen lokale gemeenschap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ons reisprogramma zit overvol met het bezoeken van de studenten op hun universiteit of in hun nieuwe werkkring. De koffer zit vol met luchtige kleding en stroopwafels.
